OFA Eye Examinations will be performed by Sarah Maxwell, DVM
Dr. Maxwell is a graduate of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California-Davis, receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1986. Following an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Purdue University, Dr. Maxwell completed a residency in veterinary ophthalmology and a Master of Science degree at Kansas State University in 1991. Her research area investigated the role of retinal-S antigen in horses with Equine Recurrent Uveitis. Dr. Maxwell has been practicing veterinary ophthalmology in Oregon since 1991.
Dr. Sarah Maxwell is board certified in veterinary ophthalmology and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology (AVCO). Her clinical interests include hereditary eye diseases and corneal diseases of dogs and cats.
Dr. Maxwell has lectured throughout the region on eye diseases in small animals. She provides ophthalmology services to Oregon State University’s teaching hospital (lecturing, and caring for horses, llamas and other large animals with eye diseases).
Dr. Maxwell entered the veterinary field more than two decades ago because of her love of animals. She enjoys working with patients and the variety each day brings. She has two dogs (Portia and Lexi), three cats (Mystey, Minnie and Calli) and 16 chickens. When not spending time with her children and their activities, she enjoys gardening and karate.

OFA Cardiology Examinations will be performed by Gary L. Wood, DVM, ACVIM
As a board certified specialist, Dr. Wood committed nearly a decade to higher education and training in the field of veterinary cardiology. He received his DVM in 1973, and was granted Diplomate status by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in the specialty of Cardiology in 1978. Since that time, Dr. Wood has been a pioneer of private specialty practice in the Pacific Northwest and enjoys a reputation for excellence and service with veterinarians and clients throughout the region.
His commitment to challenging the odds of veterinary medicine, partnered with the most recent technology and information available, enables him to compassionately manage your pet’s cardiac condition.
When not at the clinic, Dr. Wood is an avid fly fisherman and fly tier. He and his wife Barb share their home with a Bichon Frisé named Jasmine.

- Primary owners will receive an email with their scheduled time. Please be present a minimum of 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment for eye exams, 5 minutes for your cardiology exams.
- If more than 5 minutes late for scheduled appointments, client will be moved to next available opening.
